Description

A soft, sculptural bloom carved to catch raking light. RS 180 is a six-petal rosette in shallow-to-medium relief: rounded, spoon-like petals scooped into gentle hollows radiate around a domed central button, so the whole flower reads as generous and tactile rather than sharp. It settles in nicely as a furniture appliqué — cabinet-door centres, bed headboards, drawer fronts — or as a standalone medallion on a painted panel. The scooped petals do the visual work here: each is a smooth concave dish, and the raised sphere at the heart provides a strong focal highlight. Cut notes: • A ball-nose bit is essential for the dished petals; rough with a larger tool, then finish at a fine stepover for silk-smooth hollows. • Hardwoods such as beech, oak or tulipwood hold the crisp petal edges; MDF works if it will be painted. • Keep it fairly shallow (8–12 mm) so it reads as an inlay rather than a lump proud of the surface. • Break the outer edges lightly and it beds into a flat panel as if it grew there. Equally at home 3D-printed as a paint-and-glue embellishment for restoration or prop work.
