Description

A fanned burst of petals carved in deep, flowing relief. This CNC onlay opens like a stylised palmette or peacock plume: a pointed leaf-finial rises from a plump teardrop bead at the centre, and from it symmetrical ranks of scrolling petals sweep outward and downward in mirrored pairs, each grooved along its spine and curling to a soft hook. A tiny heart nestles at the very base where the lowest scrolls meet. It is meant to be applied — a decorative appliqué for cabinet doors, headboards, mirror frames, clock cases or drawer fronts, adding a hand-carved flourish with none of the hand-carving. The bold, rounded relief throws strong shadows, so the piece reads clearly even from across a room. Print notes • Cut in a tight-grained hardwood (maple, beech, cherry) for clean bead edges; a 2mm or smaller ball-nose bit brings out the spine grooves. • A straightforward 3-axis job with no undercuts — a roughing pass followed by a finishing pass is all it needs. • For 3D printing, lay the flat back on the bed; the front relief needs no supports. • Sand lightly, then stain or gild; a dark glaze wiped into the recesses makes the layered petals pop.
