Description

A blooming rosette carved in stacked tiers of pointed petals. This ornamental relief is a symmetrical flower built in layers: a broad lower ring of long, veined petals, a second inner ring rotated to sit between them, and a tight cluster of small folded petals bunched at the very centre like an opening bud. Each petal carries a soft central spine and gently dished faces, so raking light throws crisp shadows across the whole bloom. It's a timeless furniture-carving motif — equal parts lotus, dahlia and classical rosette. Made to be applied as a decorative onlay: cabinet doors, bedposts, mirror frames, ceiling roses, mantels and drawer fronts, or simply mounted on its own as a small wall medallion. CNC notes • Cut in a fine, even-grained timber — lime/basswood, maple or cherry — so the petal edges and centre bud stay clean. • Rough with a ball-nose, then finish with a 1.5–2 mm tapered ball working the petals radially; the layered tiers need a finish pass that reaches into the overlaps. • It carves well flat from a single blank; mirror or array it for matched pairs on cabinetry. • Sand lightly, then wax or oil for a warm wood finish — or prime and paint to match painted furniture, gilding the centre for a richer accent.
