Scrolled Six-Petal Rosette Medallion

A swirl of six curling petals blooming around a central bud. This is a round carved rosette in deep relief: six identical teardrop petals radiate from a smooth central boss, and each petal curls back on itself into a tight scroll — like a fern frond or a wave crest caught mid-turn. The petals nestle inside a shallow dished disc, so the design reads as a raised medallion against a recessed ground, its softly rounded surfaces catching light and throwing gentle shadow between the scrolls. It is a classic furniture-and-architecture ornament: an appliqué for cabinet doors, bed headboards, newel posts, ceiling centres or door panels, and it doubles nicely as a standalone decorative coaster or wall medallion. Carving and finishing: • Made for 3D relief carving — a ball-nose bit follows the rounded scrolls cleanly; leave a finishing pass to smooth the petal curls. • On FDM or resin, print face-up on the flat back with no supports needed. • The rounded forms are forgiving, so it scales well from a 50mm inlay rosette to a 250mm ceiling centrepiece. • Finish in wood, or prime and paint as a plaster-effect medallion; a light antique wax worked into the recesses makes the scrolls stand proud.
