Floral Rosette Square Tile

A blooming eight-petal rosette framed by four corner scrolls in a tidy square. The carving is a square decorative tile with a stepped border and a pierced background. At its heart sits a rounded eight-lobe flower with a smaller ringed rosette and a drilled centre; from each corner, C-scrolls curl inward and pointed petal-tips reach toward the middle, leaving open windows of negative space between them. It's a balanced, four-fold symmetrical design — equal parts flower and heraldic boss — that suits a cabinet centre, a coffered-ceiling panel, a door rail, or a repeating tile along a frieze. Because the background is cut clean through in places, it can be mounted over a contrasting backer or a mirror for extra depth, or left solid if you machine it as a shallow relief instead. Print / cut notes: • Decide up front whether you want it pierced (through-cut windows) or a solid relief — the pierced version needs tabs or a sacrificial backer to hold the waste while you machine the flower. • Rough with a 4mm ball-nose and finish the petal curves with a 2mm ball; a small V-bit tidies the tight scroll valleys. • Keep the drilled centre concentric — plunge it last with a straight bit for a clean bore. • For resin/FDM printing, lay it flat face-up; the domed flower sands smooth easily and takes paint, wax or gilt well. • Seal before finishing so the exposed inner edges of the piercing don't fuzz.
