Pierced Floral Medallion Rosette

An openwork medallion where the gaps do as much work as the carving. RS 215 is a round rosette built in layers: a full central flower of broad, veined petals radiating from a cluster of little beaded seeds, ringed by a wreath of paired leaves that follow the circular border. Between the petals the background is pierced clean through, so wall colour and light show behind it and the flower appears to float inside its ring. This is a decorative disc made for CNC routing — think furniture medallions, door-centre ornaments, ceiling roses, or a framed piece of wall art. The pierced construction also lends itself to a trivet or a backlit panel. Cut notes • The through-cuts make this a relief-then-profile job: rough the carving first, then run the cut-out passes; add small tabs or tape-and-glue the stock so freed pieces don't shift as the background drops away. • Use a fine ball-nose for the petal veins and the beaded centre — that detail is what sells the piece. • Choose stable hardwood or good ply so the slender leaf bridges in the outer ring don't split out. • It prints nicely in resin too; back it with a translucent sheet and an LED strip for a glowing feature. Because it is fully round and symmetrical, it sits happily on furniture, doors or walls in any orientation you like.
