Description

A classic carved rosette that turns a flat panel into furniture. This relief is a round floral rosette: six broad, softly cupped petals radiate from a raised central bead, each petal deeply channelled down its spine so light catches the ridges and drops into the grooves. The whole flower sits proud of a domed circular field, giving it that hand-carved cabinetmaker look you find on drawer fronts, bed frames and door centres. It is a decorative appliqué first and foremost — geometry meant to be repeated, mirrored and dropped wherever a plain surface needs a focal point. On a CNC router it cuts beautifully from close-grained hardwood — maple, cherry, beech or walnut — where the smooth petal transitions won't tear out. It scales cleanly from a small knob-sized medallion up to a large door boss without losing the crisp central bead. 3D-print it instead and it makes a fast onlay for painted MDF furniture or picture frames. Print / cut notes • CNC: rough with a 1/4" flat, then finish with a tapered ball-nose (1/8" or smaller) for the deep petal channels and the round bead. • Leave the perimeter as a light onion-skin tab and part it free by hand for a clean edge. • FDM printing: lay the flat back on the bed, print face-up, 0.12mm layers, no supports needed. • Finish with sanding sealer and wax on wood, or prime-and-gild if you want a French-antique painted look.
