Quatrefoil Petal Rosette Onlay

A four-lobed rosette that turns a plain panel into something worth a second look. This carved onlay radiates as a symmetrical cross of four broad, scalloped petals, each softly cupped and folding at its edges like a stylised oak leaf. Slim spear-tip finials fill the diagonals between them, and a smooth domed boss sits proud at the very centre, catching the light. The whole piece reads as classic furniture ornament: restrained, balanced and instantly at home on period cabinetry. Use it to dress the corner of a door panel, the centre of a drawer front, a mirror crown or a headboard, mirrored or tiled to build a matching set. It looks its best in a warm hardwood but takes gilding or paint just as happily. CNC and print notes: • Rough out with a 6mm ball-nose, then finish the folds and boss with a 2mm tapered ball for clean, flowing surfaces. • Oak, walnut, cherry and other dense hardwoods carve sharpest; seal soft grain first to stop fuzzing. • For FDM, print flat on the back face at a fine layer height (no supports needed) and sand the domed centre before finishing. • Leave a few millimetres of flat border so you can glue and clamp it neatly to the workpiece.
