Description

A carved bloom that turns a flat panel into a focal point. RS 223 is a symmetrical eight-petal rosette, each petal a deep teardrop scooped into a soft channel so light rolls across the surface. Between every rounded petal sits a crisp pointed leaf tip, and the whole flower gathers around a small faceted central button. It is a timeless furniture-carving motif — the sort of ornament you find on cabinet doors, bedposts, fireplace surrounds and mirror frames. This one is built for CNC routing as a decorative applique or onlay. Machined in oak, walnut, beech or a dense MDF, it drops straight onto a plain surface to lend heirloom character, and a wipe of stain or gilding wax sinks into the recesses to make the relief pop. Cut and finish notes • Rough out with a larger ball-nose bit, then finish the fine petal channels and leaf points with a 2–3 mm tapered ball nose for smooth transitions. • Keep the stock a shade thicker than the model's maximum relief so you retain a flat glue face on the back. • Sand along the grain; the domed petals telegraph scratches, so work up through the grits before finishing. • It also prints cleanly in resin or FDM if you want a lightweight applique to paint and glue on. Equally at home on a reproduction antique or a modern maker's statement piece, it is a versatile pattern worth keeping in the library.
