Description

A blossoming four-point rosette carved to catch raking light. This CNC relief is a symmetrical floral medallion built from two overlapping sets of pointed, leaf-shaped petals: a bold quartet aligned to the cardinal points, with a slimmer secondary quartet slotted diagonally between them. Each petal swells from a crisp central ridge out to a rounded, spade-like tip, so the whole panel reads as a stylised eight-lobed flower. At its heart sits a deeply recessed circular boss, ringed by concentric steps and finished with a faint sunburst fan at the very bottom of the dish, a natural spot for a knob, candle cup or turned insert. It works as a furniture onlay, cabinet-door centrepiece, drawer-front accent or a standalone wall medallion above a doorway. The rounded, hand-carved look suits oak, walnut or a paint-grade hardwood equally well. Cut notes • Machine on a solid hardwood blank; the deep petal valleys reward good vertical clearance. • Rough with a larger end mill, then detail the ridges and central dish with a 2-3 mm tapered ball nose for flowing surfaces. • Sand the petal tips lightly by hand; that is where tool marks show most under a finish. • Equally printable in resin or FDM as a lightweight appliqué: lay it face-up and the shallow relief needs no supports. Scale it to taste, from a 60 mm knob backer up to a 300 mm statement rosette.
