Eight-Petal Domed Joinery Rosette

A tidy eight-petal rosette with a domed heart. Rounded teardrop petals radiate evenly from a raised central sphere, each one scooped into a soft concave hollow so the flower catches shadow from any angle. The whole bloom sits on a shallow circular disc, giving you a clean rim to seat it flush against timber. Rosettes like this are the workhorses of traditional joinery. Drop them into the corner blocks of a door or window casing, cap a fluted plinth block, or dot them along a cabinet face, bed frame or fireplace surround as repeating accents. The strict radial symmetry means it looks right whichever way up you fit it. Print / cut notes • The concave petals machine beautifully with a ball-nose bit; a single finishing pass following the radial lines keeps the hollows smooth. • Simple enough for a first CNC relief project, and quick to duplicate into a set. • For 3D printing, lay it flat on the bed, petals up — no supports needed and the sphere prints clean. • A coat of primer and a light dry-brush really pops the raised centre against the recessed petals.
