Description

A bawdy tavern reveller, carved deep and unashamed. This relief panel captures a big-bellied, gap-toothed glutton mid-carouse: sprawled back against a stack of timber planks, one meaty fist hoisting a foaming tankard, the other brandishing a fish like a trophy. His grin is enormous, his belly rounder still, and his sandalled feet dangle off a crate at the base — every fold and jowl modelled in generous high-relief volume that reads clearly even from across a room. It's pure comic character work, ideal for a brewery, man-cave bar, pub snug or kitchen wall where a bit of ribald humour belongs. Carved in a warm hardwood it becomes a proper conversation piece; run smaller, it works as a beer-lover's gift or a novelty shelf feature. CNC notes • Rough out with a 1/4" end mill, then finish with a tapered ball-nose (1–2 mm) at a tight stepover to hold the facial creases and beard folds. • Straight-grained lime, tulipwood or a dense modelling board carves cleanest for skin and cloth. • Model depth is generous — allow 18–25 mm of stock so the belly and mug stand fully proud. • Sand from 120 up through 240, then finish with Danish oil or wax to warm the tone and catch light in the recesses.
