Snarling Mastiff Head Cane Handle

A snarling hound bares its fangs at one end of the grip — this is no flat panel. The model is a sculpted handle or cane top carved as a mastiff's head: heavy jowls, bared teeth, a broad wrinkled muzzle and a thick riveted collar banding the neck. From that collar the form sweeps into a long, smooth ergonomic shaft that finishes in a plumed, feather-carved pommel ringed by a beaded band — exactly the kind of contrast between fierce detail and clean curve that reads beautifully in raked light. It suits woodcarvers and CNC hobbyists making walking-stick tops, drawer pulls, blade or umbrella handles, or a standalone curio for a shelf. The snarl gives it character while the polished shaft keeps it comfortable in the hand. Print notes • On a router, cut in a hardwood such as oak, walnut or maple with the stepover tightened around the muzzle and collar rivets; the fur and teeth want a fine ball-nose finishing pass. • Set the piece muzzle-down or on its side so the overhanging jaw is supported, and mirror the file if you need a matched left/right pair. • For resin or FDM, print at a slight tilt with supports under the chin and collar, then sand the shaft smooth before sealing. • Finish the grip with oil or wax and pick out the fur and fangs with a darker glaze so the detail jumps.
