Norse Bearded War Axe

A Viking bearded axe, its cheek scored with swirling Norse knotwork and its haft bound in leather. The single-bit head sweeps down into a hooked beard, and both faces carry carved triskele spirals and interlace running along a raised central band. The handle curves organically like a length of branch, wrapped near the grip in criss-crossed leather binding and studded with rivet detail where the head meets the wood. It works beautifully as a display replica, a cosplay sidearm, a wall-mounted mancave centrepiece, or a scaled prop for photography and film. Print notes • Print the axe lying on its side; split it along the handle if your bed is short, then pin and glue the halves. • Laying it flat keeps the carved spiral faces support-free and crisp, with only light supports needed under the beard hook. • A fine layer height pays off on the shallow knotwork: aim for 0.12mm or better on FDM, or use resin for a display-grade surface. • Finish with a metallic base coat on the head, a brown wash sunk into the carvings, and a leather-brown drybrush on the wrapped grip.
