Carved Native Chief Knife Handle

Two carved grips, two frontier stories — a plumed chief and a hunt on the plains. This file gives you a matched pair of decorative knife-handle carvings, shown from both faces. The upper grip is dominated by a Native American chief in profile, his feathered war bonnet flowing back over the swell of the handle; a burst of foliate scrollwork wraps the collar toward the flared, fishtail pommel, and a fine basket-weave texture fills the grip zone. The lower grip stretches longer and more sabre-like, framing a sunken landscape panel where a wolf lopes through prairie grass beneath scrolling acanthus and beaded borders, the same woven texture running out to a slim, tapered butt. They are designed as replacement or display handles for fixed-blade knives and letter-openers, but they read equally well as standalone relief miniatures for a Western, hunting-lodge or collector's cabinet. Machining notes • These are full 3D grips: rough on a rotary/4-axis, then detail the headdress feathers and the wolf scene with a 0.5mm tapered ball-nose. • Keep the basket-weave shallow and even so it doesn't fight the pictorial panels for attention. • Tight-grained walnut, pear or a micarta-style resin holds the fine faces and fur far better than soft pine. • Support the fishtail pommel and the panel undercuts if you print rather than mill, and hand-finish the portrait before sealing with oil.
