Twin Tigers Basket-Weave Handle Plate

Two big cats caught mid-pounce, framing a pillowed field of woven squares. This CNC relief reads as a shaped handle scale or decorative grip plate: a long, gently waisted bar that swells at both ends and dips through a softly recessed centre. On the left a lean tiger springs forward, tail whipping up; on the right a heavier cat charges in from the opposite corner, so the two predators mirror each other across the panel. Between them sits a densely tiled basket-weave of rounded studs, each little dome catching the light to give the middle a quilted, tactile look. It suits knife makers dressing a handle, or anyone routing an ornamental pull, drawer front or trophy plaque with a wildlife theme. The carving is symmetrical enough to sit centred on a blade tang or a cabinet rail. Print notes • Machine it in a tight, close-grained hardwood (maple, walnut, pear) so the stud field stays crisp. • Use a fine tapered ball-nose for the finishing pass; the pillowed squares and cat fur reward a small stepover. • Keep the model flat on the bed. The shallow relief needs no supports for CNC, and it prints face-up cleanly on FDM or resin. • Sand only the raised outer frame and leave the recessed texture as-cut, so the studded centre keeps its contrast.
