Flowing Pierced Sculptural Corbel

A long, flowing bracket that looks poured rather than cut, with a sculpted opening at its heart. Seen in profile, this is a slender horizontal support that tapers to a fine point at one end and swells to a squared, scrolled foot at the other. Its underside is where the drama lives: smooth ribbons of material sweep down and inward to frame a pierced negative space, a rounded window and a small hooked notch beneath it, so the solid top edge appears to float on flowing struts. The whole thing has an organic, almost liquid quality, more sculpted corbel than traditional square bracket. It is built to hold something up with style, a floating shelf, a countertop overhang, a mantel or a stair handrail return, while reading as a design object in its own right. Mount it in mirrored pairs under a shelf and the sweeping voids line up into a repeating arch. Print notes: • On a CNC this is a two-sided or profiled cut; machine the flowing face first, then flip or cut the mirror so the pierced window passes cleanly through, and de-burr the inner curves by hand. • Choose a strong hardwood if it will bear real weight, and orient the grain along the length for load strength. • For 3D printing, stand it on the squared foot and print upright so layers run vertically for shear strength; add supports only inside the pierced opening. • Sand the sweeping undersides progressively; the smoother the curve, the more it reads as a single molten form.
