Tapered Openwork Support Bracket

A long, low sweep of carved timber that works as a bracket with attitude. This is an elongated, mostly horizontal relief: a slim flat top rail runs the full length and tapers to a fine point at one end, while beneath it the body opens into worked negative space — a rounded pendant foot dropping near the centre, a single pierced round eye, and a clean rectangular window toward the blunt, softly rounded end. The result sits between a corbel and an abstract support, with a streamlined, almost aerodynamic profile. Put it to work as an applied bracket under a shelf or worktop, as a decorative apron along a bench or console, or purely as a pierced silhouette accent on a sign or headboard. The openwork keeps it feeling light despite the length. Cut notes • Cut from flat sheet stock — a single hardwood board or ply at the finished thickness works well. • The round hole and rectangular window are through-cuts: pocket them fully, or drill-and-jigsaw first and let the router pass clean the walls. • Lay it flat with the tapered tip and blunt end supported, then machine the face; a small round-over on every edge softens the pierced openings. • Sand the long top rail with care — its unbroken line is the piece's signature, so any tool marks there will show.
