Description

Part relic, part nightmare, this is a winged war-axe carved as a single dramatic relief. A grimacing skull sits at the heart of the head, framed by curling tusks and horns, and from it two great bat-like blades sweep outward, ribbed and veined like leather membrane. Below, the haft drops away in stacked, faceted segments to a heavy pommel, giving the piece the look of a cursed weapon lifted straight from a dark-fantasy game. Modelled as raised relief on a flat back, it is made to be mounted and admired rather than swung. It makes bold wall art for a games room, a striking plaque above a desk, or a hero prop for a shelf of tabletop trophies. Finished in pewter it looks forged; a warm walnut stain turns it into an heirloom carving. Making notes: • On a CNC router this suits a two-stage cut in hardwood or dense MDF: a roughing pass followed by a fine ball-nose finishing pass to pick up the skull and blade veining. • As a 3D print, orient the axe face-up and add supports beneath the outswept wing tips and the undercut tusks. • Resin captures the crisp skull detail best; FDM works well scaled up as a lightweight wall trophy. • Sand the broad blade faces, then dry-brush the recesses to make the carving pop. A confident, macabre centrepiece for anyone who likes their decor with teeth.
