Description

A soft dome rising to a single crowning boss. Forget the lattice its old tags suggest — what's actually here is a warm cream circular medallion, strongly domed like the back of a shield or a swollen button, sweeping up to a small pointed boss at the very centre. A fine incised ring groove encircles that nub, giving the eye one crisp line against the otherwise smooth, glowing curve. There's no lettering and no fretwork; this is a pure convex geometric form that lives or dies by a flawless surface, and it catches a broad, buttery highlight across the top. It works as a shield umbo, the centre of a carved rosette, a furniture knob or drawer boss, or a minimalist circular wall accent. Print / CNC notes • A textbook 3-axis dome: rough out the bulk with a large bit, then a ball-nose radial or spiral finishing pass for a mirror-smooth curve. • In timber, orient the grain so the central boss doesn't tear out — take a light final cut around the apex. • 3D-printing? Print it dome-up flat on the bed (no supports) and slow the final layers for a clean apex, or print upside-down on the flat back for maximum surface quality. • Scale it up as a shield centre or down as a repeated furniture boss.
